Schools to Festival Programme

With the support of Methanex, the TOI Foundation, Tranzit Coachlines, Creative NZ and New Plymouth District Council, Reimagine Festival is delighted to offer students throughout the region the opportunity to attend live festival performances; a combination of bringing performance/workshops to schools and bringing students into the heart of the festival.

ARO

Join Aro, musical duet and husband and wife Charles (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Te Ata, Ngāti Mutunga) and Emily Looker for workshops and performances around the maunga.

The workshop session is informed by matauranga Māori of our natural environment and will involve games and activities with movement and singing. Students will learn the waiata Kia Mau with actions for participation in the performance.  The performance session will see Charles and Emily share their passion for the power of language and music to tell stories that remind us of our cultural identity.

PAY IT FORWARD, KEEP ARTS THRIVING

The Taranaki Arts Festival Trust believes we have a responsibility to give as many school children as we can access to performing arts. Exposure to arts and culture has many positive effects on the community’s wellbeing and the future of our next generation.

Over the last 30 years, our Schools Programme has given thousands of school children the opportunity to experience the arts who may not otherwise be able to.

Pay It Forward, Keep Arts Thriving invites you to purchase a ticket, at the checkout of your purchase, that will create an opportunity for a Taranaki school child to experience a live performing art show right here in our community.

Your $5 donation goes a long way to ensure that Arts Thrive Here for the next 30 years.
